Police: Victim Lost $1,500 to Lottery Scam

A Berwyn resident said he was supposed to receive a new car after making the payments.

A Berwyn resident contacted the Tredyffrin Police Department earlier this month to make a report against a lottery company that had not made good on its promise to send him a new car.

According to the report, the victim told police on April 16 that a representative from Publishers Clearing House said he won a new car and thousands of dollars. In order to receive the prizes, the resident sent a series of payments totaling $1,500. Officers informed the man that he fell victim to a common lottery scam, most likely enacted by people in another country.
