Public Hearing Monday On Berwyn Fire Co. Substation

TREDYFFRIN TWP, PA —Tredyffrin Township supervisors are hosting a public hearing on Monday, July 18, on a plan to purchase of property for a new substation for the Berwyn Fire Company.

The township supervisors Tuesday night voted unanimously to host a hearing on a proposed ordinance to purchase a 6.3-acre property at 1485 Valley Forge Road from the Cradle of Liberty Council Inc., Boy Scouts of America.

The proposed purchase price is $1.8 million.

The Berwyn Fire Company services Tredyffrin and Easttown townships. Tredyffrin has a population of 29,461 and Easttown has a population of 10,646.
In January 2020, the fire company opened a temporary substation at 1100 West Valley Road.

The substation located near Gateway Shopping Center was open to provide fire services to the Chesterbrook, Glenhardie and the Swedesford Road corridor.

The substation is part of an $8 million project, which also includes constructing a new station to replace its 93-year-old station on Bridge Avenue.
