Pugh Road In Tredyffrin Expected To Reopen In May
A project to replace a culvert that was destroyed in the summer of 2021 during Tropical Storm Ida is near completion, officials report.

TREDYFFRIN, PA - A section of Pugh Road that has been closed since the summer of 2021 after a culvert was destroyed during Tropical Storms Ida is expected to reopen in May.
The project to replace the culvert is expected to be completed by May 1, Stephen Burgo, township engineer, said during a recent township supervisors meeting.
Burgo said that some of the funding will be covered by the federal Emergency Management Agency.

The contractor, Richard E. Pierson Construction, Co., Inc., based in New Jersey, was awarded a $929,426 contract to replace the culvert. The construction began on Oct. 17, 2022.
“We are on the home stretch of trying to wrap this up,” Burgo said. “We are ahead of schedule.”

Burgo said the project involves replacing the culvert and adding several protections to prevent erosion, including constructing a concrete wall.
Supervisor Julie Gosse, the chairwoman, thanked Burgo for a thorough update.
“It’s exciting that the end is in sight,” she said.
