Sabra Recalls 30,000 Cases of Hummus

Possible listeria contamination prompted Sabra Dipping Co. to recall packs of its Classic Hummus brand.

A random sample of Sabra’s hummus tested positive for listeria, prompting the company to recall 30,000 cases of the product this week, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Sabra Dipping Co. voluntarily issued the recall following the results from a test collected at a retail location on March 30th, 2015 by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, according to the company.

The measure is limited to five brands of Classic Hummus sold nationwide, with a “best by” date of May 11 or May 15, including Classic Hummus 10 oz., Classic Hummus 30 oz., Classic Hummus without Garnish 32 oz., Classic Hummus 17 oz. six-pack, Hummus Dual Pack Classic/Garlic 23.5 oz. To date, there have been no reports indicating that these products have caused any illness.
