What is your position regarding Pennsylvania gun laws in light of the May 24 fatal shootings of 19 children and two adults in Texas? Pennsylvania does not have a law pertaining to assault weapons? Do you favor restricting or banning assault weapons?
“I cannot begin to imagine the pain and suffering of the families who lost loved ones and all those who now live with tragic memories of the violence in Texas. We must do all that we can to prevent violent gun crime that threatens all of us.
“Lawmakers need to do two things simultaneously: they need to protect gun owners who obtain and use guns lawfully, while prosecuting and punishing those who obtain and use guns unlawfully.
“I support stronger and strictly enforced background checks, hold periods for 18-21 year olds, tough penalties and prosecution of straw-purchasers, and effective security measures in public schools.
What is your position on Pennsylvania’s abortion laws following the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, returning the issue to the states?
"For me, the public policy discussion on abortion needs to move toward personal responsibility and reasonable options for mothers and fathers with circumstances that do not support the continuation of a pregnancy.
"I recognize this is never an easy decision. Like many people in the 157th, I oppose late, full, and partial birth abortions.
"Any candidate who wholly supports these practices, without exception, is taking an extreme position for political gain and not working in the best interest of our community."
