Sweet Support for Community Theater

Thursday night is your chance to 'eat the props' while enjoying community theater. Emily Smith is co-owner of EmJ's Cafe in Berwyn and the creator/baker of the restaurant's ĂĽber-popular desserts.

(Ok so they are not the exact props but fresh servings of Birthday cake, lemon bars, zucchini bread just to name a few).

EmJs is donating desserts for a special intermission celebration during tonight's performance of Rabbit Hole at Footlighters theater on Main Avenue in Berwyn.

Desserts play a big part in the drama about a family coping with a crisis in many different (and often humorous and touching ways). Audience members at Thursday's performance will be able to sample the array of desserts featured in stage during the play.

Emily Smith says she has been baking her whole life and has loved the opportunity to add new desserts to Emjs menu over the past two years when she took over the baking from outside vendors).

The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week and for BYOB dinners on Thursday and Fridays and special themed nights one Saturday each month.

Smith says in addition to tonight's intermission dessert reception, audience members can bring in a ticket from this weekend's (September 12,13,14) performances to receive a complimentary dessert with the purchase of a dinner entree at EmJs at 814 Lancaster Ave in Berwyn on Thursday or Friday nights.

Curtain time for Rabbit Hole is 8 p.m. at Footlighters Theater on Main Ave in Berwyn this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
