T/E School District: Help Available In Wake Of Texas Massacre

TREDYFFRIN TWP, PA — Tredyffrin/Easttown School District is providing support to students and staff who are anguished and saddened over the devastating loss Tuesday of 21 students and adults at the Robb Elementary School in Texas.

“I recognize that students, staff, and parents in our own school community may have feelings of anxiety and fear in response,” Dr. Richard Gusick, superintendent, said this afternoon in a letter to the community. “When horrific events like this happen in our nation, the effect is wide reaching.
“As we all grieve with the families of the victims of yesterday’s unthinkable events, please know we have staff available at all levels.”

At 11:32 a.m. Tuesday, Salvador Ramos, 18, opened fire in the elementary school Uvalde, killing 19 children and two adults in the deadliest shooting at a grade school since 2012 when a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Gusick expressed sympathy to the entire Robb Elementary School community for the loss of loved ones.

“It's difficult to imagine to imagine the level of anguish of their loved ones," the superitendent said.

Tredyffrin and Easttown townships police departments plan to have an increased presence around our schools in the coming days as an added measure of reassurance to the safety of students and staff.

The school district has trained mental health staff available to help any student or staff member who may need additional support.

Parents were asked to notify school principals and/or counselors to ask for help if the children are anxious or have shown signs of harming themselves.
