TE School Board Approves Preliminary $165 Million 2022-2023 Budget
The board is waiting for more information regarding revenues, costs for athletic fields and state funding.

TREDYFFRIN/EASTTOWN —Tredyffrin/Easttown school board voted 8-1 to approve a $165 million preliminary budget for the 2022-2023 school year with a projected deficit of nearly $6 million.
Arthur J. McDonnell, business manager, said the school board and administrators will be working on reducing the deficit before the final budget is approved on June 13.
McDonnell said the final tax rate will not be set until the June meeting.

The proposed budget includes $160,786,947 of projected revenue and $4,656,111 in fund balance contributions, compared to $165,443,058 in authorized spending.
Michele Burger, board member, voted against approving the preliminary budget because not all of the information for the budget is available.

Dr. Roberta Hotinski, board president, said in the next month the board will be getting some more information regarding a proposed $24 million project to upgrade athletic fields.
Hotinski said there are two more finance meetings and two more board meetings before the final budget is adopted.
“I encourage people who want athletic fields and tennis courts to come out to the meetings,” Hotinski said.
Hotinski said the district will get updates on enrollment and the state budget before the final budget is adopted.
The preliminary budget will continue to be discussed at a public finance committee meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, in the Tredyffrin/Easttown Administration building, 940 W. Valley Road, Wayne.
