Tredyffrin Police Patrol Car Erupts in Flames

Tredyffrin Police are expected to shed new light on what caused a Dodge Charge patrol car to erupt in flames Saturday in Berwyn.

According to Berwyn Fire Company sources, no one was injured in the blaze that erupted inside the four door marked patrol car.

Main Line Media News ran a photo of the burning car taken by a resident on the street. The car caught fire shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday on County gate Road in Berwyn.

While the cause of the blaze is still under investigation by police and the Chester County Fire Marshal, there have been other Dodge Charge Police vehicles consumed by fire around the country in recent years.

An Oregon Sherriff's department Charger burnt to a crisp last year, according to a report on autoblog.com.

Back in February Chrysler recalled about 10,000 2011 and 2012 Dodge Charger police cars for electrical problems.

It's not yet known whether the Tredyffrin Police car that caught fire was one of the recalled vehicles or whether the fire was even connected with other Charger police cruiser fires.

Tredyffrin police tell and Berwyn Fire Company officials tell TE Patch they expect to release much more information about the fire during the day Tuesday, following the long Labor Day holiday weekend.
