Tredyffrin Libraries Trustees Say 'Libraries in Jeopardy,' Holding Fundraisers
The Tredyffrin and Paoli libraries have been dealing with budget cuts and a deficit of more than $100,000, the trustees say.

The Tredyffrin Libraries are in jeopardy, the board of trustees says, and need help from the community.
The Tredyffrin and Paoli libraries have been dealing with budget cuts and a deficit of more than $100,000, the trustees say.
Additionally, recent flooding damaged furniture, carpeting, drywall and shelving at the Tredyffrin Library, The Philadelphia Inquirer says. The library was forced to close for nearly a week to deal with the cleanup efforts.

The Board of Trustees sent the following letter to the community:
Increased utilities and operating costs combined with decreased funding have resulted in a budget deficit of over $100,000. We are in immediate risk of having to cut valuable services, staff and days of operation in order to balance the budget.

This committee, in conjunction with the Board of Trustees, will be responsible for organizing annual fundraising events and initiatives. Additionally, the libraries are holding two community fundraising events on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
The first is a bowling event from 9 to 11 a.m. at Devon Lanes, 30 E. Lancaster Ave. in Devon. The cost is $14 per person; register here.
From 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 30, Avero (821 W. Lancaster Ave. in Wayne) will donate 10 percent of all sales to the library. Find additional information here.
