Two Charged with Theft Following Incident at Trader Joe's

A woman's purse was stolen at the grocery store, police said.

Two men are facing theft charges after Tredyffrin Township Police said they were connected to the theft of a woman’s purse Dec. 20 at the Trader Joe’s in Gateway Shopping Center.

Thomas Williams, 48, of Philadelphia is charged with theft by unlawful taking and possession of a small amount of marijuana and related paraphernalia, police said. David Newsome, 47, also of Philadelphia, is charged with theft by unlawful taking; criminal attempt; receiving stolen property and supplying false identification to law enforcement.

“Maintain physical control of your purses,” police advised shoppers, adding that personal belongings should not be left on counters or in shopping carts.
