Volunteers Save Every Easttown Household Hundreds
They don't wear capes, but they are super-heroes when it comes to saving the township money.

They aren't secret, but these six are super-savers you may not have ever heard of.
They are the members of the Easttown Citizens Advisory Committee (ECAC)and last year they saved the township hundreds of thousands of dollars without charging taxpayers a penny.
The ECAC got down to business one year ago in September 2012 after responding to a request for volunteers that the township posted on its website. Â Last night they came "out of the shadows" to share the results of their effort with the five members of the Easttown Board of Supervisors at the BOS meeting.
Among the three major accomplishments outlined at the meeting, the one that saved every household in the township may be the best of example of how hard work by the volunteers is paying off for every township taxpayers.
The original ECAC members guided the township through a bond refinancing earlier this year. Â Sounds really exciting, right? Â Well think of it this way: Â The ECAC's work helped cut $781,000 off the interest payments the township was scheduled to pay on a $10 million municipal bond issue.
The members figured out exactly when to pull the trigger on refinancing the bond, just as interest rates were bottoming out. Â The result is a savings to the township of $781,000. Â That translates to $223.14 for each of the 3,500 households in Easttown. Cha-Ching.
The all-volunteer group includes several long-time residents who also work in finance for several TE companies, but volunteers can come from virtually any walk of life and there is no minimum requirement for the number of years anyone has lived in Easttown.Â
