What Was in The Eastown Mosquito Spray Mist?

Several Patch readers asked us to check into what the Chester County Health Department used to spray for mosquitoes Wednesday night.

West Nile Virus cases have been rapidly growing all over the nation and Chester County in August. The first case of West Nile found in a human being in Chester County was reported this week.

The Chester County Health Department sprayed a section of Easttown with a mosquito-killing pesticide Wednesday night using a high powered sprayer mounted on a truck. The spray puts a mist in the air which, according to the Chester County Health Department, uses a chemical called Permanone to kill the insects that can carry the virus.

Permanone is made by Bayer and comes with a four page label which is attached to this article as a pdf file.
