Alleged High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest

A Levittown man is arrested after allegedly doing triple digits on the turnpike.

Pennsylvania State Police arrested a Levittown man Friday morning after he was allegedly clocked doing 97 mph at mile marker 338.9—the Camp Hill Road overpass.

Gunnar Javier Derry, 24, was arrested at about 10 a.m. and charged with reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and several traffic violations.

According to police, Derry was driving a red Acura Integra in the middle lane and driving 97 mph in a 65 mph-zone. The car started to accelerate — a black puff of smoke came from the car’s exhaust pipe — and moved into the right lane, cutting off other motorists, police said. The Integra then moved back to the center lane and continued to accelerate.

A State Trooper attempted to stop the car, which made several lane changes as it cut through morning traffic, police said; the driver never used a turn signal and the driver cut off several motorists as he attempted to flee.

When all of the lanes were blocked, police said Derry used the shoulder to pass other cars; he exceeded speeds of 100 mph.
