Drunken Man Blocks Road with SUV, Police Say

Upper Dublin Police arrested a Fort Washington man after he allegedly fell asleep … while on the street.

Upper Dublin Police arrested a man Sunday night for DUI after he was allegedly asleep or passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle while the car was in gear.

Micheal James Skahan, 34, of Goodman Drive, Fort Washington, was arrested March 17 shortly before 9 p.m. after police said he was blocking the straight lane of westbound Susquehanna Road near Fitzwatertown Road with his white Lincoln MKX. According to police, Skahan was slumped forward in the driver’s seat, but was breathing; the vehicle was in gear, but not moving due to the grade of the road.

When Skahan woke up, he seemed surprised and was not aware of his surroundings, police said. According to police, he smelled of alcohol and had glassy and bloodshot eyes. Skahan blew a 0.227 percent on a portable breath test and there were “a few” empty beer cans and bottles in the vehicle, according to police.
