Gas Down a Nickel ... Locally, Statewide and Nationally

For yet another week, none of the six gas stations being tracked week-to-week by Upper Dublin Patch raised its gas prices, and some of them dropped their prices considerably.

The average cost for a gallon of regular and a gallon of premium gas dropped by about a nickel locally, statewide and nationally, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report. Two of the six gas stations around Upper Dublin are under the average when it comes to regular-grade gas, two are at the average and two are selling regular gas above the national average. 

In fact, the two gas stations selling the cheapest gas — Sunoco and Cumberland Farms — are selling regular gas at 12 cents cheaper than the national average. Cumberland Farms is selling its premium gas for $3.81 per gallon and Sunoco is selling a gallon of premium for $3.74 — five cents and 12 cents cheaper than the national average, respectively.

Lukoil, again, has the most expensive regular gas ($3.84) and the most expensive premium gas ($4.20), though its prices dipped on each grade by three cents compared to last week. Those prices are $0.31 and $0.34 higher than the national average, respectively.

For comparison’s sake, if you fill your car’s 20-gallon tank with regular gas at Sunoco rather than Lukoil, you’ll save $8.60; you’ll save a bit more than $9 if your car needs premium gas. But, if you happen to be on Pennsylvania Avenue already, it will cost you about 0.3 gallons of gas to get to Sunoco if your car averages 20 mpg — a little over a buck … and the time it takes to get there.
