Hungry Bear Delivers to Fort Washington Train Station
New cafe in Fort Washington makes everything to order and will deliver - even to the train station.
When taking the train from Fort Washington, there's a new option for coffee, a snack, or even to grab breakfast or lunch. The Hungry Bear, located at 429 S. Bethlehem Pike in Fort Washington, opened on April 12, making everything fresh and in house.
Chef and Owner Derek Cantwell, said they make just about everything in house, from the sausage to the pastries and more. He added that they get fresh bread from Baker Street Bread Company. On top of the house made items, everything is made to order.
Cantwell told Patch he learned to cook from him mother and then trained under people while working at high end restaurants, as well as trying things out on his own and paying attention to details. He said he had been working in a restaurant in Center City but wanted to work for himself and not for someone else. He said the location and the character of the building in Fort Washington drew him to open The Hungry Bear Cafe there.
