Mentor an Upper Dublin Student

Offer your guidance as a volunteer with Upper Dublin Education Foundation.

It is a simple plan. Bring together the talents of local residents, and support area students. But, how can you help?

The Upper Dublin Education Foundation seeks mentors to volunteer their services. Those from all backgrounds are welcome.

According to the UDEF website, the goals of the program are fairly basic:

"Mentors are adults who have an interest in connecting generations, as well as a respect for young people," said the site. "[Mentors] have a willingness to get involved in someone else’s life. Provide support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement and constructive examples in order to help a young person achieve. They serve as a positive role model sharing their life experiences to make a difference in a child’s life."

Any age, specialty or educational background is welcome to volunteer.

"There is no profile of an ideal mentor," explains the UDEF site. "Each relationship builds on its own strengths and develops its own characteristics. What may be effective for one mentor and student may be modified to accommodate another."
