Monte Carlo Night to Benefit Students, Charities
Take a trip to Monaco … via Germany, to benefit charities in Upper Dublin.

Channel your inner James Bond this Saturday at the Fort Washington Mercedes-Benz dealership.
(Yes, Bond usually drives an Aston Martin, but this is close.)
The Upper Dublin Education Foundation and the township are sponsoring a Monte Carlo night Saturday, March 2 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Fort Washington Mercedes-Benz dealership on Pennsylvania Avenue. The proceeds will benefit local charities including the Upper Dublin Library Board; the Kelly Ann Dolan Fund; the North Hills Scholarship Fund; youth sports and Upper Dublin Schools.

Dana Jamison, executive assistant to Fort Washington Mercedes-Benz’s owner, said the business has been active in helping the community for years.
The new owner, Michael Sloane, is a Blue Bell resident, grew up in the area and has been doing things with different Upper Dublin organizations for years,” Jamison said.

The dealership recently participated in the Fort Washington Elementary School 5K; the Upper Dublin High School Cardinal Cup Golf Outing; and has also supported the Upper Dublin Parks and Recreation Department, according to Jamison.
“Mike is a big advocate for the community,” she said.
On Saturday, a portion of the showroom floor will be dedicated to gaming tables. Craps, blackjack, roulette and a money wheel will be on display — and a few cars will be on display for eye candy purposes.
The AMG Lounge (Mercedes-Benz’s performance division), will double as a poker room.
Tickets are $50 and include gaming chips, food and an open bar serving wine and beer. The gaming chips may be redeemed for prizes, which include a 60-inch LED TV, passes to museums, restaurants and sporting events. They can’t be redeemed for cash, though. Valet parking will be provided and dress is business casual.
The event is perhaps more important to the Upper Dublin School District because of the $2.7 million budget deficit it is facing.

“This is an opportunity to support the Upper Dublin Education Foundation raising money to help fund programs in the schools as well as to help fund local organizations the Upper Dublin Township commissioners have voted to support this year,” Upper Dublin School Board Member Joan Ludwig said in an email. “As the school district discusses budget cuts, people have suggested trying to generate alternative revenue — this is one effort toward that goal.”
Visit the Upper Dublin Education Foundation website here to make reservations or to make a donation to the organization. Walk-in tickets will also be available.
