A Montco Private School Went Into Lock-Out Thursday For A Reported Threat

The threat came on the same day that Springfield Township police arrested a high-schooler for reportedly making terroristic threats.

UPPER DUBLIN & SPRINGFIELD, PA — A local private school went into lock-out on Thursday after a threat was reported.

Fairwold Academy, a private school that caters to students with special needs, contacted local police after the apparent threat was made, the nature of which has not been revealed.

The private school sits in both Upper Dublin and Springfield Townships, and police officers from both departments responded to the call, according to Upper Dublin Police Chief Francis Wheatley.

Wheatley said he could not discuss the matter in-depth, as it is the subject of an ongoing police investigation, but he confirmed to Patch that school officials contacted police about a threat that was made and that the school "took precautions and initiated lock out procedures," Wheatley said.

Wheatley said that police officers from Upper Dublin and Springfield responded to the scene and are "actively investigating the incident."

No arrests were made and the school stayed open the rest of the day, Wheatley said.

The incident occurred on the same day when a Springfield high school student was arrested for making terroristic threats.
