Upper Dublin Seeks New School Director

The Upper Dublin School Board seeks to fill a vacancy by mid-October.

UPPER DUBLIN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Upper Dublin Township School District is seeking a new director to fill its board vacancy.

The Upper Dublin Board of School Directors will accept written applications of interest from qualified electors of the District to fill about two years of the unexpired term of a school board member.

The unexpired term being filled extends from appointment until Dec. 6, 2027, essentially serving a two-year term.

The director position is a volunteer position with a substantial time commitment.

Applicants must submit letters of interest, resumes, certifications of eligibility, a completed questionnaire, and statements of financial interests.

All must be received by the Board Secretary Andrew Lechman, by hand-delivery at the Administrative Offices of the District at 1580 Fort Washington Avenue, Maple Glen, PA 19002, or via email at alechman@udsd.org no later than 4 p.m. on Oct. 1.

Any applicant whose complete packet has not been received by that date and time will not be considered by the school board for appointment to the office.

Letters of interest and resume should include background and experiences (both professional and volunteer) that the applicant believes support their candidacy to serve as a Board member.

Selected applicants must attend an in-person interview, in public, during a Special Legislative Meeting, on Oct. 13, at 6 p.m.

Following interviews, it is the board's intention to publicly deliberate and nominate a candidate to fill the vacant seat. The successful candidate may take the Oath of Office and be seated as a new member of the Board during the meeting.

To be considered a qualified elector, the applicant/candidate:

  • Shall be of good moral character, be at least eighteen (18) years of age, and have been a resident of the District for at least one (1) year before the date of the appointment/election, and not be a holder of any of the offices or positions as specified in Section 322 of the Pa School Code (24 PS 3-322).
  • Shall not have been removed from any office of trust under federal, state, or local laws for any malfeasance in such office.
  • Shall not have been removed from the office of school director for refusal or neglect to perform duties as a board member within the previous five (5) years.
  • Shall not be employed by the District.

Shall not have been convicted of directly or indirectly promising, paying, or bribing any Board member or promising any office or appointment
