Dozens Hospitalized After Hazmat Situation At Sharp Services: Reports

UPPER MACUNGIE, PA — Dozens of people were hospitalized Friday after a hazmat situation at a pharmaceutical packing company in Upper Macungie Township, according to multiple reports citing local police.

Authorities were sent to Sharp Services Corp., located in the 7400 block of Keebler Way, around noon for reports of an odor and people feeling sick, CBS Philadelphia reported.

Lt. Pete Nickischer of the Upper Macungie Township Police Department told WFMZ workers reported a chemical smell and experienced symptoms including nausea, vomiting and headaches.

The source of the odor remains unclear, reports said.

At least 52 people were taken to the hospital, Nickischer told WFMZ.
