Amazon Failed To Pay Rent For Amazon Fresh Store In Willow Grove: Suit

WILLOW GROVE, PA — The delayed opening of several Amazon Fresh stores has local property owners in ire and has sparked a lawsuit in Willow Grove.

Federal Realty Investment Trust, the landlords of a property at the Willow Grove Shopping Center where an Amazon Fresh store has been built, claim that has Amazon is not paying its rent.

The Philadelphia Business Journal first reported the suit, filed by the law firm Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy, P.C., which also claims Amazon defaulted on their agreement to open the store in a timely manner.

In turn, Amazon has countersued Federal Realty, claiming that they breached their contract and made it impossible for them to open the store.

Further details were not immediately available. Patch has reached out to both Federal Realty and Amazon for additional comment on the case.

The Amazon Fresh in Willow Grove is located inside the former Barnes and Noble.
