UMHS Baseball Goes to PIAA DIstrict One Class AAA Championship

Kudos to the Upper Moreland High School baseball team, which advanced to the PIAA District One Class AAA Championship Game by defeating Octorara High School 5-4 in extra innings yesterday.  

Mike Janas pitched all eight innings, allowing four runs and keeping the Braves off the scoreboard for the final four innings of the game.

In the bottom of the eighth, Matt Kohn doubled down the left field line. With two outs and two strikes on him, Kyle Lockard hit a line drive to the left-center gap to bring in Kohn for the game-winning run.

The Bears will take on Pope John Paul II Wednesday, June 1, at 4 p.m. at West Chester East in the PIAA District One Class AAA Championship Game. The Golden Bears baseball team last competed in the district finals in 1978. The winner will advance to the state tournament.
