An Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Takes Place Saturday at Veterans' Memorial Park

WILLOW GROVE, PA — An annual tree lighting ceremony will take place in Upper Moreland Township this coming weekend.

The Christmas tree lighting event, which is hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Old York Road, will take place on Nov. 20 beginning at 5 p.m. at Veterans' Memorial Park, which is located at 220 Mineral Avenue, just off of Easton and York Roads in Willow Grove.

The free event, which is open to members of the public, will include refreshments, crafts activities for the kids and an appearance by Santa Claus.

The host of the event, the local Kiwanis Club, is part of a global community of clubs and member partners who are dedicated to improving the lives of young children, "one community at a time," according to its website.

The organization says that each community has different needs, and local clubs help children in their respective communities how they best see fit.

The organization does everything from work to fight childhood hunger to improving youth literacy and other guidance.

Veteran's Memorial Park, which is where the tree lighting will be held, is a 24-acre park serving residents of the Willow Grove area. It contains wooded open spaces, recreational facilities and monuments to military veterans.
