Don't Forget, It's Only a Test of the Nationwide Emergency Alert System
Today at 2 p.m. there will be a nation-wide test of the Emergency Broadcast System
According to a press release, at 2 p.m. today, there will be a three-and-a-half minute test of the Emergancy Alert System.
The test will be conducted by the Federal Communications and Federal Emergency Management Agency, and will be the first nationwide test of its kind.
The test is expected to interrupt broadcast systems, including radio and television, with an audio message indicating "This is a test."

When the test is over, regular programming will resume.
"This is an excellent step in ensuring that we are prepared to inform the public on a larger scale to take appropriate preparation in the event of an emergency," , SARS executive director said in the release. "We strongly urge the public to use this event as a reminder that everyone should establish an emergency prepardeness kit and emergency plan for themselves, their families, communities and businesses."
