Why are you seeking elective office?

While our children have been in the district, our family has felt the gaps of the systems and missing voices amongst its leadership. As a recruiter of higher ed, healthcare, and public/civil sector executives, I bring the skillset to inform the administration of best practices in hiring and retaining a strong workforce. With a track record of community service on other boards in places I call home, including as one of the founding board members and Communications Director of the Equity Alliance for Upper Moreland, I am dedicated to contributing to the well-being of my neighbors. Before recruitment, I was a marketing and communications senior manager. I could support and build upon the findings of the District's communications audit to strengthen communications from the Districts and unify our community around its mission.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The most pressing issue facing our board is what we do with all we have learned during the pandemic and from this election. I intend on advocating for how we move forward in a more innovative way. Workforce morale is low they are short-staffed and stretched thin. I will build bridges with the staff, listen to their feedback, and act on what is learned.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Professionally, educators are my clients. I know quite well about the tensions between administration and teachers and how the needs of other staff, like transportation, food services, and facilities, often get overshadowed and they do not have a seat at the table. On the other boards I have served, I was the one that governed with my heart and stretched the board to think out of the box. I intend to do the same as Upper Moreland School Director.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

Our board has not profoundly and consistently spoken out against challenges faced by marginalized students and what they will do to support them. The administration has let social media falsely communicate important decisions made by the District rather than proactively issuing clear statements of the facts and educating the community through channels that meet us where we are.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

Our governing bodies need to be representative of the communities they serve and that is not the case. I would be honored to be a voice at the table that is currently unheard.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I am active in the community and passionate about the excellence of our children's education. These two attributes led to working with other devoted parents to form a nonprofit that serves our diverse community. I have built relationships with our local leaders, and though we have differing views, we respect and listen to one another.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

To be brave and speak up for what I believe in.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am an active learner and reach decisions by listening to many perspectives. I believe that everyone has a right to a prestigious education, and I will strive to remove any barriers that prevent that from happening. Public education is one of the great contributors to society. The stronger our District, the brighter the future.
