Info Meet for Miss Southeastern PA Scholarship Organization Scheduled

The Miss Southeastern Pennsylvania Scholarship Organization will provide information on Saturday, Jan. 14 from noon to 6 p.m. for those interested in competing in local Miss America Organization (MAO) and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competitions. 

The Miss America Organization is one of the nation's leading achievement programs and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women, according to Mary Meister, of Willow Grove, who volunteers as Executive Director of the Miss Southeastern PA local.

Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance. 

The session will be at the Holiday Inn Express, 240 Veterans Way, Warminster. Community-minded teens (age 12 to 16) and young women (age 17 to 24) are invited to stop by anytime 12 noon to 6 p.m. to meet current local titleholders, who will share their experiences and answer questions regarding platform (community service or charity), and how to prepare for competition.

Miss Southeastern PA's local titleholders help many local non-profit organizations and appear at numerous community events, including Abington Memorial Hospital's June Fete, the Abington PAL Foodfest, and the Hatboro Holiday Parade.  Contact Meister at (215) 275-3918, or email mmannixmeister@yahoo.com for more info.

Local competitions will be held in February and March. Contestants will compete for local titles and awards, and the opportunity to compete at the Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship competitions in May. The State competitions are preliminaries to Miss America.  Meister also invites everyone to support Miss Pennsylvania, Juliann Sheldon, by watching the live ABC broadcast of the 2012 Miss America Pageant on Jan. 14 at 9 p.m.
