Mapquest brings you FrightQuest

Are you in need of a good scaring? Mapquest is here to help you plan it out.

This Halloween season, you may be ready for a good scare. The Greater Philadelphia area has much to offer. There are a number of area haunted houses, themed hayrides and scary spots. But, how can you keep them all straight? Mapquest has your back.

The 2011 FrightQuest maps out the scares in your area. If these seem too far of a drive, try checking out those suggested by Patch.

In Chester County, you have Spring City's Pennhurst Asylum. This real-life former hospital has been featured on television shows "proving" it is haunted, and is the winner of 2011's "Top Haunts" award.

If you are heading into the city, Philadelphia's Terror Behind the Walls at the historically preserved Eastern State Penitentiary in the Fairmount neighborhood is a well known "haunt" for the season. Held rain or shine until Nov. 12, it is a scary site.

Bucks County offers up its fair share of scare, too. The Valley of Fear and the Original Haunted Hayride will be sure to spook even the most solid adults with four attractions to get you in the Halloween spirit.

If you are aiming to please a younger crowd with a bit tamer Halloween fun, try Montgomery County's Freddy Hill Farms in Lansdale. The pumpkin patch offers hayrides (without the scare), a giant slide, minigolf, sand art and even pig races for the younger members of the family, or maybe just those still afraid of the dark.
