Snapshot: A Preview of the UMHS Production of ‘The Music Man’
Patch gets a sneak peek at Upper Moreland High School's spring musical with Drama Club advisor Jackie Raginsky.
Upper Moreland High School () Drama students have worked hard to make this year’s spring musical, “The Music Man,” an enjoyable experience for everyone.
“We have amazing vocalists, hard-working, dedicated students, who are having a really good time,” Jackie Raginsky UMHS Drama Club advisor said. “And, it’s infectious.”
Raginsky, a UMHS math teacher, marks her first year as drama club advisor and producer for this year's UMHS spring musical, whose opening night is tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Raginsky said, the students always look forward to holding a spring musical for the public. She added that most of the students involved with “The Music Man” production are also involved with multiple school activities, and yet still manage to give enthusiastic performances at each rehearsal.
“It’s a tradition in this school,” she said. “The students enjoy the music department and what it offers.”

According to Raginsky, rehearsals began shortly after the winter break, and continued its busy schedule right up to yesterday’s all-day dress rehearsals.
This year, 40 students make up the cast ensemble, including five students from the Upper Moreland Intermediate School.
Student spotlights in “The Music Man” production are:
- Kathryn Brunner, 12th grade, and Kendall Ward, 11th grade, the production’s assistant choreographer and choreographer, respectively.
- Kathryn also holds the starring role as Marian Paroo, while Kendall will play the mayor’s daughter.
- Starring opposite of Kathryn, in the role of Harold Hill is 11th-grade student Joey Myers.
- Also playing in a major role is 12th-grade student Ryan Lauer, playing Marcellus Washburn.
- During the Saturday Matinee, 10th-grade student Maddie Albert will take on the role of Marian.
- There will also be two special cameo appearances by UMHS math teachers Karen Grossi and Dan Minger.
In addition to the cast, there are 25 UMHS students working as production, staff and crew.
Directing this year’s play is UMHS English teacher, Carmen Ferrarello, who also directed last year’s spring musical “Bye-Bye Birdie.”

* Thursday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m.
* Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m.
* Saturday, March 31 at both 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are on sale in the during school hours and will also be available at the door.
Prices are $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens.
