'Touch A Truck' Event To Benefit Hunger Will Take Place Thursday

The Upper Moreland Police Department is hosting an event where folks can check out cool emergency vehicles while also helping a food pantry.

UPPER MORELAND, PA — Members of the community are invited to come out Thursday evening and check out some cool rescue vehicles, while at the same time supporting a good cause.

The Upper Moreland Police Department is hosting ‘Touch A Truck,’ Thursday July 23 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event will feature various emergency vehicles from regional rescue organizations available for members of the public to check out up close and in person.

The list includes the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Horsham Police Motorcycle Unit, and of course vehicles from the host agency, Upper Moreland, who will have a police K9 unit on display.

The Upper Moreland Public Works department will also be on hand showing off its fleet.

The event will take place at Pileggi Park, located at 4255 Shoemaker Road in Huntington Valley.

The Upper Moreland Police Department is partnering with the Inter-Faith Food Cupboard for the event, and those in attendance are kindly asked to bring a variety of food donations to help benefit the cupboard.

Items sought include, but are not limited to, the following: coffee, tea, canned goods, peanut butter, jelly and jam, pasta, cereal, macaroni and cheese, ramen noodles, rice, condiments, and household goods like paper towels, cleaning spray, toilet paper, diapers and laundry detergent.

The Inter-Faith Food Cupboard is affiliated with the Coalition Against Hunger, which connects individuals in need with food assistance programs and nutrition education in the Greater Philadelphia area.

Its website says it was founded in 1996 with the goal of building a community where all people have the food they require to lead healthy lives.
