Upper Moreland High School Welcomes New Principal Josh Levinson
Josh Levinson is the new high school principal in Upper Moreland. He comes to UMHS after a career in the Philadelphia School District.

UPPER MORELAND, PA — A new leader is at the helm of Upper Moreland High School.
Josh Levinson recently began his position as high school principal, the first time he will be leading a suburban institution after an entire career working for the School District of Philadelphia.
For the past five years, Levinson has been principal of the Lankenau Environmental Science Magnet High School in Philadelphia’s Roxborough neighborhood.

While at Lankenau, the school significantly increased progress scores, it substantially increased attendance rates and the school earned numerous awards and recognitions, according to a bio for Levinson on the Upper Moreland High School website.
Levinson had been selected as the Neubauer Fellow in Educational Leadership, which is a prestigious training program for high performing principals, his bio states.

In a video posted online, Levinson introduced himself to the high school community.
“Thank you for welcoming me to Upper Moreland High School,” he stated. “Students, you’re going to hear me say this a lot but here at Upper Moreland High School, we believe in you and we know you can and will be successful. Thank you and have a wonderful day. Go bears.”
Levinson has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and history from the University of Pittsburgh and has a master’s degree in secondary education from Arcadia University, his bio states. He also completed a principal K-12 certification program from Edinboro University.
While he is new to Upper Moreland High School, Levinson is not new to the overall community. His bio says he has been involved in the Second Alarmer’s Rescue Squad fire company for the past 15 years, and he currently serves as the treasurer of the organization’s board of directors and chairs the board’s employee personnel committee.
Levin lives in North Wales with his wife, Sarah, and two children, Ava and Max, along with dog Lucy.
