Upper Moreland Historical Association to host a presidential presentation
The UMHA's first public presentation of the year will explore U.S. presidents of the 18th and 19th century.

The Upper Moreland Historical Association (UMHA) will hold a public meeting tomorrow, featuring, guest speaker Dale Sander.
According to Heather Greenleaf, the recently appointed UMHA archivist, Sander will provide a presentation on 18th-and- 19th-century U.S. presidents.
The event will take place at the Upper Moreland Township Building, 117 Park Ave. in Willow Grove, at 7:30 p.m.

Greenleaf said that Sander has a reputation for being a good speaker. She said she hopes his presentation will be well-received at the Jan. 25 meeting, as the UMHA could book his presentation on 19th-and 20th-century presidents for next year.
According to Greenleaf, the UMHA books about nine public presentations a year.

The following is the UMHA list of future scheduled presentations:
- Feb. 22:
"Along Old York Road"
Guest Speaker: Mary Washington will present a slide show of Old York Road
from Philadelphia to Willow Grove through the years.
- March 22:
"Willow Grove Park"
Guest Speaker: Ray Stahl, noted Willow Grove Park authority, will present a multi-media visit to the park where life was a lark.
- April 26:
13th Annual UMHA Dinner, Williamson's Restaurant
"Dining with the Presidents"
Guest Speaker: Mr. Set Momjian, authority on Presidential dinnerware, will display some of his collection of White House china and share personal stories of the men and women who dined on it.
- May 2011:
Uppre Moreland's Tri-centennial Celebration
Special programming is scheduled in conjunction with the township's tri-centennial celebration, including programs from the UMHA's Ed Momorella and Millie Wintz.
- Sept. 27 (rescheduled from Oct. 2010):
"The Great Train Wreck of 1856"
Guest speaker: George Ditter, local attorney and historian, will present the fateful events of July 17, 1856 and how they helped to change the U.S. rail industry forever.
- Oct. 25:
"Ghosts of Montgomery County"
Guest speaker: Charles Adams, author, will present stories of hauntings and mysteries from the region.
- Nov. 22:
"Antiques Roadshow"
Guest speaker: Tom Wakeley, appraiser for Stephenson's Auctioneers and Appraisers, will be on-hand to appraise your treasures and heirlooms.
