The Upper Moreland Marching Unit Wins 1st Place During Competition in Hersey

UPPER MORELAND, PA — High school musicians in Upper Moreland are singing their praises this week when it was announced that the marching band recently took home the top honors in a statewide competition.

The Upper Moreland High School Marching Unit won first place in the Liberty A division at the Cavalcade of Bands event in Hershey, Pa., according to the school district.

The marching band's overall score was 93.225.

"We are so beyond proud as they are now STATE CHAMPIONS!" the school district wrote on its Facebook page.

The district took to Facebook and Twitter to make the announcement.

According to its website, Cavalcade of Bands is a nonprofit organization comprised of more than 100 member schools who come together to compete on the interscholastic level.

The group says it provides competitive opportunities with marching band competitions in the fall and non-competitive jazz band activities throughout the winter and spring months.
