Officer James Baldwin Joins The Ranks Of The Upper Moreland Township Police Department

UPPER MORELAND, PA — A new police officer has joined the ranks of the Upper Moreland Township Police Department.

James D. Baldwin, a Connecticut native who operated a landscaping business before attending police academy, became the police department's newest member this week.

Magisterial District Judge Paul Leo administered the oath of office to Baldwin, who was sworn in during Tuesday's Board of Commissioners' meeting.

According to the police department, Baldwin, who was born in Hartford, CT, moved with his family when he was young to Berwyn, Chester County, where he attended the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District and graduated from Conestoga High School.

He went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in landscape design management from Delaware Valley University in Bucks County back in 2015, and subsequently started up his own tree and landscaping company following graduation.

In the summer of 2019, Baldwin was hired by the Lancaster City Police Department and went on to attend police academy at Temple University, which he graduated from in October 2019, according to his biography.

He worked the night shift under the patrol division for a time while employed by the Lancaster City Police Department.

Baldwin also has other emergency management experience; he has his firefighter and EMT certifications and has worked as a volunteer firefighter. He has been with the Paoli Fire Company in Chester County since 2009 in a volunteer capacity.
