UST Ambulance Corps Now Advanced Life Support Provider

"This is a major step forward for the ambulance corps," says Dr. William Zajdel, medical director of the Upper Saucon Ambulance Corps

At the , the board unanimously passed the resolution to recognize the as the primary Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider.

The corps was certified as an ALS provider during a nine-month certification process. 

It's a major step forward for our community," said Dr. William Zajdel, medical director of the corps. "Two weeks in, it's been nothing but a success."

Zajdel pointed out to the supervisors that becoming ALS certified is "the natural evolution of an ambulance corps, citing Hellertown, Emmaus, and Macungie as other corps with ALS certification. 

The nine-month certification process, allows the ambulance corps to administer advanced life support measures including cardiac defibrillation, starting IV medication, and intubation.

"We have all the equipment ready to go," said Zajdel. 

 "Thank you for all the work that you’ve done, and all the work you will do moving forward," said supervisor Stephen Wagner.
