YMCA Launches Dedicated Circuit Training Space in Bucks County

Circuit training has arrived in Quakertown. The Quakertown branch of YMCA of Bucks County now hosts a dedicated space for circuit training. A December 13 ribbon cutting ceremony at the branch marked the opening of Y Circuit which was created by YMCA of Bucks County health and wellness professionals in direct response to the impact of COVID-19 and individuals seeking more than ever, a small group, community centric, easy to follow workout routine.

Circuit training is the combination of six or more different exercises performed with rest periods between them for a determined amount of time. The new circuit space in Quakertown includes multiple circuits for lower body, upper body, core and total body with over 15 machines; plus, motivating signage and easy to follow instructions so individuals can build their own workout depending on their training goals.

Early feedback from individuals now returning or just starting out at the Y is that they enjoy the intimate, circuit style set up of the space; some foreseeing Y Circuit as their permanent wellness home, while others view it as an onramp for a few months before heading back into the larger, wellness center.

“We are proud to be here for our community during this time when COVID-19 has taken such a physical and mental toll on so many individuals,” said Allyson Fox, vice president of operations for the Y’s Upper Bucks region. “We see the Y Circuit as a way to meet members where they are in their health and wellness journey and support their routine to a more active, stronger lifestyle.”

Y Circuit is provided free to members of the Y, part of a growing list of amenities and services provided with membership including access to wellness center, pools, gymnasiums, in-person and virtual group exercise and programs and services for all ages. Additionally, the Y has added UVC technology to filter air throughout the facility, increased space between equipment and enhanced its cleaning and sanitizing practices.

The Quakertown branch is located at 401 Fairview Avenue. To encourage the community to try this new space and others offered by the Y, they are waiving the guest fee for the remainder of the year. Members of the community who plan to visit the Y are asked to bring photo identification to create a non-member guest account on their first visit. As an added benefit, those who join the Y before January 31 will pay nothing until February!
