This is the department's first year using the app and it is asking residents to be patient.

"We're all learning," the department posted. "We hope this is successful and makes it easier to be ready when Santa comes to your street. Let us know if it helps, and positive feedback will ensure we continue this in the future."

The fire department asks residents to not use this app to physically follow the fire trucks because it can create an unsafe environment for volunteers and children.

"We assure you will hit every road and every house," the fire department posted.

The Southampton Fire Company will also remain in service during the event and will respond to emergency calls. The company said it will post updates on its Facebook page if there are any delays.
