Southampton Contractor Arrested After Fraud Allegations

Lower Moreland authorities have charged a home contractor with theft by deception after they say he engaged in business fraud.

LOWER MORELAND, PA — A home renovation contractor has been charged with fraud in a case in which authorities say he deceived his client.

Vincent M. Lasorsa, 54, of Southampton, Bucks County, was arrested last month and charged with theft by deception - false impression, as well as one additional criminal count, for what Lower Moreland Police say was a fraud case where he took money to renovate a home but failed to deliver on the promised work.

Lower Moreland police say that Lasorsa was hired to remodel rooms in two separate homes for the victim, and after collecting more than $23,000 up front to do the work, he failed to show and complete the renovations.

After Lasorsa failed to reimburse the victim, an arrest warrant was issued and granted, and Lower Moreland police took Lasorsa into custody, according to police.

Court records show that Lasorsa was arraigned on Dec. 10 before Magisterial District Judge Jay S. Friedenberg. He was subsequently released on his own recognizance.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 2 before Magisterial District Judge Juanita A. Price.
