Tractor Trailer Crashes, Catches Fire Off PA Turnpike In Southampton

The truck reportedly drove off the turnpike and came close to colliding with a local business building before catching fire.

SOUTHAMPTON, PA — Bucks County firefighters responded to a tractor-trailer crash that ended in a fire on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Southampton on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, around 3:30 p.m., the truck reportedly drove off the turnpike near County Line and Jaymor Roads and came very close to colliding with NewAge Industries Inc., a hose supplier company whose warehouse and offices are just off of the major road.

Initial reports said that the truck hit the building, but the Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company said that no contact was made.

Accompanying the Southampton Fire Company and Feasterville Ladder 1, the Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company assisted in dousing the flames of the fire that occurred after the truck went off the road. The truck, which had been carrying pallets, ignited after coming close to striking the business building.

One injury has been reported. The truck driver was reportedly seen walking away from the scene with the police.
