Charges Against Homeless Man Found in Omni William Penn Hotel Withdrawn

Omni William Penn administrators told the arresting officer they did not want to participate in further legal proceedings.

Charges against a homeless man accused of sleeping in a presidential suite at the Omni William Penn Hotel were withdrawn yesterday.

According to Pittsburgh police, paying hotel guests found Jeffrey Watson, 48, in their room on the 16th floor of the downtown hotel on November 5. Watson was sleeping on the sofa.

Watson was charged with trespassing, a felony, and stealing services, but hotel administrators told the arresting officer that they did not want to participate in any further proceedings.

“When you combine that with the fact that there were no tangible damages to the hotel property, we felt it was appropriate to withdraw the case,” Mike Manko, from the Alleghney County District attorney’s office, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
