Upper St. Clair Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly

Police shot and killed a man Sunday following a domestic dispute in Upper St. Clair.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA — Police shot and killed a knife-wielding man who was involved in a domestic incident Sunday.

Police were notified of the domestic dispute in the 100 block of Lamar Road at 2:55 p.m. After consulting with a family member and the Allegheny County Health Department, it was determined that an involuntary commitment should occur for the man.

When Upper St. Clair officers attempted to take the man into custody, he brandished a knife and threatened officers, according to Allegheny County police. Officers backed away from the home.

Shortly before 9 p.m., the man emerged from the home armed with a knife an approached members of South Hills Area Council of Government’s Crisis intervention response team. He refused orders and continued to approach officers.

Multiple officers fired at the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the man who was shot has not yet been released. He was 48.
