Upper St. Clair Alters School Day Arrival, Dismissal Times

High school students will have a later start to their day in 2023-24. The move also will impact elementary and middle school students.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA — The Upper St. Clair School District will have a later start time for its high school students next year. Because of bus scheduling issues, the move requires changing elementary and middle school times as well.

School directors approved the changes Wednesday.

"We are confident that this change will have a positive impact on the overall well-being and academic performance of our students," Superintendent John Rozzo said in a letter to district families. "By prioritizing their sleep, we are investing in their success both inside and outside the classroom."

Rozzo said that while there has been overwhelming support from students and families regarding the start time change, the district recognizes that this may initially create logistical challenges for some families.

"We are committed to working with and supporting families as we all adjust to this new schedule," he said.
