Upper St. Clair Senior Named To All-State Band

Phoebe Chen won the prestigious honor; also, she and two other USC students will play at a future PA Music Educators Association festival.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA — Upper St. Clair High School senior Phoebe Chen was recently selected via

competitive audition for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Band.

A flutist, Phoebe will attend PMEA’s 2022 All-State Festival and Annual In-Service Conference April 7-9 at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in the Poconos.

In addition, Phoebe along with two other students – Lauren Tenney, clarinet, and Ben Wasson, trombone – have been selected to participate in the PMEA Region I Band Festival. The event is set for March 11-12 at Mt. Lebanon High School.

The students receive music instruction from John Seybert, Upper St. Clair’s director of bands.

PMEA’s Region I encompasses schools from throughout western Pennsylvania, including Allegheny, Washington, Westmoreland, Greene, Fayette, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.

PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of more than 4,000 members, dedicated to
promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities.
