USC Coach Heading to Peters to Lead Varsity Football

The Peters Township school board hired Richard Piccinini Tuesday night.

Assistant football coach Robert L. Piccinini is leaving Upper St. Clair to become the varsity football head coach for .

The school board voted 8-1 Tuesday night to hire Piccinini. Dr. Mark Buzzatto voted against the hire.

A 25-minute executive session occurred as board member Cindy Golembiewski called for a closed personnel meeting. Following the session, the school board added the vote to hire Piccinini during the regular meeting agenda.

Superintendent Nina Zetty said the administration had been interviewing for the position for weeks, up until Presidents Day.

After being questioned by a resident of Piccinini's qualifications, Solicitor Jack Cambest declined to answer. Earlier in the meeting he explained to the same resident the board could not discuss the person, rather the process. He explained the board is permitted to adjust the agenda without prior notice of the meeting.

Piccinini replaces Nick Milchovich, a district math teacher, who coached Peters varsity football for four years.
