$50,000 Grant Coming For Warminster Fire Department
State Sen. Frank Farry appeared before Warminster Township Supervisors at their meeting Thursday to deliver the state check.

WARMINSTER, PA —Now that Warminster Township has full-time firefighters, some state funding is always needed to improve service to the community.
At its meeting Thursday night, Warminster Township Supervisors announced that they have received a $50,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to support the township’s firefighter program.
The grant check was secured —and delivered in person —by State Sen. Frank Farry to the Warminster Fire Department.

“As a 35-year first responder, I know first-hand how important this funding is for those that put themselves on the front line to protect our community,” said Farry, fire chief of the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company since 2001. “It is critical that they have the resources to do their jobs and I am happy I was able to secure this funding for Warminster Fire Department.”
Joe Velten, the township's emergency management director, said he met with Farry last summer with the senator providing him with an opportunity to apply for the grant.

“We appreciate Senator Farry’s assistance getting us some operational funds for our Fire Department,” Velten said at the meeting.
The grant will allow the township to purchase firefighter turnout gear, portable 911 radios, and equipment to support rescue response during active shooter events.
It will also help pay for firefighter training, township officials said.
In addition to the equipment purchases and training opportunities, the grant helps to keep a positive balance in the township’s Fire Fund, which helps volunteer fire departments maintain their services and their career firefighter programs.
