BUCKS COUNTY, PA — For a non-presidential contest, Bucks County hit a record for voter turnout in a municipal election since statistics were first reported over two decades ago.

Voter turnout in Tuesday's general election hit nearly 50 percent, the highest recorded by the Bucks County Board of Elections for a municipal election since reaching 42.56 percent in the Nov. 7, 2023, municipal election.

Bucks County's 49.7 percent voter turnout follows similar trends reported in other counties.

In Bucks County, 239,241 of the county's 481,514 registered voters appeared at the polls on Tuesday's election.

The turnout caused a "blue tsunami" through Bucks County on Tuesday, with Democrats sweeping all four Court of Common Pleas seats, winning all five Democratic row officer positions, flipping the Sheriff’s Office blue, and electing a Democratic District Attorney for the first time since the Civil War.

So far this year, two "No Kings" protests were held in several Bucks County communities as residents protested the policies of the Trump Administration.

For the first time in county history, Democrats won both the District Attorney and Sheriff offices, along with races for prothonotary, recorder of deeds, and county controller. Come January, Democrats will hold all nine row offices and the board of county commissioners.

In Bensalem Township, for example, three Democrats won election to the council in a town known as a Republican stronghold in Bucks County. In Buckingham Township, a Democrat won for the first time for supervisor, an official said.
