Centennial Appoints Interim Security Supervisor

Kevin Burns is leaving after two years on the job to become the police chief for Langhorne Borough.

WARMINSTER TOWNSHIP, PA — The Centennial School Board has hired an interim replacement for the supervisor of the district's security operations.

After two years on the job, Kevin Burns has left the school district to become police chief in Langhorne Borough. He was expected to be officially sworn in at the Langhorne Borough Council meeting on Wednesday.

"We are happy for Mr. Burns on this new position," Centennial School Board President Mary Alice Brancato said. "That is a wonderful new position."

Brancato said the school district is working on "finding the best candidate for the job." In the interim, the school board has named former police officer Carmen Inverso as the acting head of security.

Burns joined the Centennial School District as security supervisor in August 2023, replacing a former police chief to oversee the district's security operations.

He was also a graduate of William Tennent High School.

Burns had served in a similar capacity in the Neshaminy School District from 2019 to 2022.

Burns had served as a police officer since 1988, and in various roles as a patrolman, detective, investigator in vice and narcotics, D.A.R.E. officer, and sergeant.

The hiring was a new post for the district, which didn't have a school police officer, school resource officer, or school security guards at its schools at that time.
