Hot Chocolate Stand Benefits Sick Friend, Church of Christ Prepares for Holidays

  • Three young do-gooders spent a chilly and snowy weekend giving passersby an opportunity to warm their bodies and souls. Alyssa Williams, Shannon Williams, and Mia Hollinsworth set up a hot chocolate stand at Barness and Log College Drive on Saturday, raising $65 in two hours to help out their friend Rialee Jacoby as she battles bone cancer. Alyssa has continued the fundraising efforts with another friend, Sierra Marelia, by creating and selling hair bows. The pair have collected more than $100 in orders for the fashion accessories.
  • The United Church of Christ is preparing for its annual Christmas dinner for those alone or in need for the holidays. A buffet-style meal will be served at the church located at 785 W. Street Road on Dec. 25 between 1 and 2:30 p.m. Call (215) 675-8808 for more information.
  • William Tennent High School sophomore Ari Carrillo has been selected to participate in the PMEA District 11 Choral Festival to be held Jan. 9-11, 2014 at Neshaminy High School.
