Hundreds Turn Out for YMCA Fun Run at Warminster Community Park
YMCA and Warminster Twp. welcomed over 300 participants to the Warminster park on March 9 for first ever Flying Leprechaun Fun Run
WARMINSTER- YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties and Warminster Township Parks and Recreation welcomed over 300 children, families and volunteers to Warminster Community Park for the inaugural Flying Leprechaun Fun Run on Saturday, March 9. The fun run was a mile-long course for children ages 12 and under that took racers along the bucolic trail of the park to a climactic finish line located on the former US Navy Base runway.
“It says so much about this community, for all these families to come out on a cold March morning to support their youth in completing this race,” said Justin Grand, YMCA race director and associate executive for the Central Bucks Region. “This event marks an expansion of the Y’s partnership with Warminster Township, and I believe everyone who attended or volunteered for the fun run was blown away by the inspiration and enthusiasm these kids put on display all morning.”
All proceeds from the Flying Leprechaun Fun Run go to support the Y’s financial assistance and donor-supported, free community programs. Warminster Community Park, which was a US Navy Base and airfield until 1993, is the largest in the Warminster Parks and Recreation system at 240 acres. Beginning this summer, the park will host YMCA Camp Bucks Warminster, a five days per week adventure camp for children in grades Kindergarten through seventh.
